Begin with a soft arrival

Before you write, take a few conscious breaths. The goal here is to be in this moment, right here, right now. Seperating from your daily life mind clutter. For some, a “ritual”-esk focus can help. Things like lighting lighting a candle, cozying up with a favorite blanket, or simply always choosing the same time for this practice. For me, I find that simply focusing on this moment, and my breath is key. And not forcing words on the page, just simply flowing as the feeling comes through. This time with you and your journal is a time for that inner voice to be acknowledged, and heard.

Prompts that can help open doors

  • “What would the universe like me to know?”
  • “What is my body wishing to tell me today?”
  • “What can I do now to be the most in service to others?”

Tip: Let your hand move faster than your inner critic. It’s all about flow and presence. Even the smallest of messages can be very powerful, and have a deeper meaning attached.

Choosing a journal

I am a big fan of physically writing, as opposed to typing. I feel that it is easier to flow, and allows for the perfect pace. When it comes to your journal, you can truly go for anything, however, the feeling of thick natural pages is often my go-to. But honestly, just pick whatever is convienent.

I will say though, that having a journal specifically for this writing is important. As opposed to combining this writing practice with your math book or grocery lists. That’s a no beuno.

A Vintage Journal I recommend, if you like that vintage grimoire-esk vibe: See on Amazon →

Local flee markets are also a great choice to find unique notebooks.

Ritual makes it memorable

Close your practice: thank your guides, your body, and bring in that feeling of gratefullness. Then close up your journal, and await for your next session. Thanks for reading, cheers.
